For those unfamiliar with the She’s All That story, which (in our opinion) qualifies as a defining moment in rom-com history, the film follows a popular high school boy (Freddie Prinze Jr.’s character, Zack) who, after being dumped by his girlfriend, takes a bet to turn the least popular girl (Cook’s character, Laney) into prom queen. Zack’s ex-new girlfriend’s lover, a The Real World star she meets while on spring break, is played by Lillard in the film.
The new version, released more than 20 years later, follows a plot identical to the original, but it is a remake, not a sequel, as evidenced by the fact that Cook and Lillard are not reprising their original roles. Instead, Cook portrays Padgett’s mother, while Lillard portrays Principal Bosch, the school’s principal. IMDB
